10th Newport Brownies Celebrate 60 years.

Back in 1955  new Brownie and Guide (then Girl Guide) units were registered with the unit names of 10th Newport, Congregational Brownie Pack and 10th Newport Congregational Guide Company. GUIDES ENJOY BADGE DAY.

Around 50 Guides who are members of Girlguiding Isle of Wight attended a ‘Badge Day’ on the 1st February. THREE BADEN POWELL AWARDS FOR VENTNOR GUIDES.

Three members of 1st Ventnor Guides have achieved their Baden Powell Awards the highest award for girls of this age. Catherine Idle 15years old, Beth Hammond 13 and Sydney Pitts 13 completed a range of different activities. Two helped at Brownie meetings for two terms and one helped at the Children’s Centre. BLUE LIGHTS FOR GIRLGUIDING IW

Island residents and those on the mainland with a view of Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth will be able to view it in a blue light on January 30th thanks to Girlguiding IW’s Island Commissioner Deborah Meadows. Members of 1st Gurnard Guides, along with several Brownies from Northwood and Gurnard have enjoyed a magical visit to Warner Brothers Making of Harry Potter Studio Experience in Hertfordshire. RYDE FRIENDS OF GUIDING ENJOY CHRISTMAS.

Dozens of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and members of Ryde Friends of Guiding together with the girls’ parents and friends joined for Carols and Christmas readings recently at Garfield Road Methodist Church.
