10th Newport Brownies Celebrate 60 years.

Back in 1955  new Brownie and Guide (then Girl Guide) units were registered with the unit names of 10th Newport, Congregational Brownie Pack and 10th Newport Congregational Guide Company. Throughout 2015 Dimbola Museum and Gallery at Freshwater will host a series of exhibitions showcasing the artwork of local school students, who have been inspired by Julia Margaret Cameron. Around 50 Guides who are members of Girlguiding Isle of Wight attended a ‘Badge Day’ on the 1st February. THREE BADEN POWELL AWARDS FOR VENTNOR GUIDES.

Three members of 1st Ventnor Guides have achieved their Baden Powell Awards the highest award for girls of this age. Catherine Idle 15years old, Beth Hammond 13 and Sydney Pitts 13 completed a range of different activities. Two helped at Brownie meetings for two terms and one helped at the Children’s Centre.
