This year’s IW County Show, presented by the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society at their Northwood Show Ground was, once again, held on two very hot days. This hot weather means that even greater care has to be given to make sure the animals taking part are comfortable and that visitors to the show are comfortable too. There was some cooling breeze and visitors could find a shady spot especially if they undertook to explore the wooded area.
The Society does its best to make sure everyone has a good time and there was certainly something for everyone at this year’s event.
Camel races were held in the main ring as well as all the usual attractions and one new attraction was the appearance of giant tortoise, which had to be kelp super cool.
Delicious cakes and other refreshments were provided by the WI and the steady stream of visitors to the Tea Tent certainly had a good choice.
As well as the camel racing the main ring saw a display of farming through the ages with all methods of ploughing shown.

Stalls offered all kinds of goods, there were tastes of Island products and produce, works of art, live entertain, a maritime section, competitions and activities for children- in fact something for every taste. A good day out, or two, for all ages.
