‘YOUR FUTURE’ CAREERS AND JOBS FAIR

‘Your Future’ a major careers and jobs fair commissioned by the Isle of Wight Council in partnership with the Isle of Wight College, takes place on Thursday 27 October at the college.  Island residents aged from 14 up to and including adults will be able to obtain key advice on career paths.

This event will be attended by more than 45 employers. There will also be representatives from Jobcentre Plus and a wide variety of sixth form colleges, training providers, further education colleges, local schools and universities including Russell group members.

People attending will have the opportunity to get CV and interview guidance.

Companies looking to recruit have informed event organisers of their vacancies and Jobcentre Plus staff will be looking to match up their clients with prospective employers at the event. In addition, there will be advice and guidance on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This event runs between 11am and 3pm.

Council leader and Executive member for children’s services, Councillor Jonathan Bacon, said: “This is an excellent and established annual event that has proved invaluable to many of our young people in furthering their educational and career prospects. It provides the chance for young Islanders to meet a range of providers of further and higher education and to access key information about potential career pathways and opportunities. We would strongly encourage as many young people as possible to visit the event to find out more.”

Isle of Wight College principal, Debbie Lavin, said: “We are delighted, as always, to host this most important and critical event for people from across the Island. Judging by previous years’ events this will be exceptionally popular and an excellent opportunity for all those attending to gain the highest quality advice and guidance to help them progress.”
