2022 started with a leaders training afternoon which was well attended and as well as some training there was fun and games including a scarecrow making competition.
Once again all Island units have been very busy with activities and all the girls have been working hard to gain badges. There has been plenty of fun too and special evening meetings have celebrated the Chinese New Year, World Thinking Day (see another page on this website) and Pancake Day. (Shrove Tuesday)
Carisbrooke Guides undertook the ‘Take Action’ skills builder:
11th Newport Rainbows not only took part in their own ‘Winter Olympics’ but became robots for an evening, celebrated the Chinese New Year, the year of the Tiger, and enjoyed pancakes.
Carisbrooke Brownies also celebrated the Chinese New Year and made World Thinking Day contact with New Zealand. Badges were received from New Zealand too.
Meanwhile at East Cowes the Brownies were working towards their Collectors Badge. With all the girls being able to choose a different topic to study and collect there was certainly a variety. One Brownie chose stones and pebbles from the beach for her collection.
She certainly had a lot to choose from!
Shanklin Brownies also chose the sea shore for some study and worked with another charity to collect egg-cases of oviparous chondricthye .
