Try Sailing For Free

There are only a few days to go before Try Sailing Day at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club where you are invited to try sailing completely free next Saturday 10th September 2016.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never stepped into a boat before.  Come along and you and your family can get afloat and sample the freedom and exhilaration of a fantastic outdoor sport at this friendly Club based in Fishbourne IW next to the Wightlink Ferry.

From 10am to 4pm there will be a variety of boats available for you to have a go on including yachts, keelboats and dinghies. FREE Sessions will be a minimum of half an hour and will be running throughout the day at the Club. The event is open to all so come along with your family and friends or as an individual.  All you need is some warm clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.  We also recommend a towel and change of clothes for afterwards. Everything else is provided so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Food and refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day and the club has free parking on site.

Commodore Tony Pope of The Royal Victoria Yacht Club says “We are getting excited about welcoming everyone along to the club.  We’re delighted to be opening our doors once again for people to see what we do best!

The club offers adult sailing on a Wednesday night through the summer and cadet training for children aged 8-18 on a Friday night. We also race every Sunday and join together with other Island sailing clubs for events.  Come down and see for yourself”

These free taster sessions are supported by the RYA and the Royal Victoria Yacht Club is a recognised RYA Training Centre meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety.
