S-W ENGLAND Comes Together For WTD.

World Thinking Day happens every 22nd February and is a chance for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the World to think about each other, the Worldwide movement they’re part of, and important issues.

In 2022, the theme of World Thinking Day is Our World, Our Equal Future and has been a chance to learn about how girls and young women are overly affected by environmental issues and they could explore how Girl Guides and Girl Scouts can speak out and take action for a better World.

This year Girlguiding South- West England built on the success of last year’s virtual World Thinking Day event with over 3000 members, including dozens from the Isle of Wight signing up to “Eating Your Way Around the World”. Which enabled those taking part to think about how much and what others eat.

Members from across the SW England Region experienced an international trip from the comfort of their own home or met up within their Unit, District, Division or County to enjoy new foods together.

This event was open to all Sections and there were lots of activities on offer, apart from the food, to keep everyone busy and entertained including a Promise renewal and campfire.

Everyone could travel across the globe, checking in with the five WAGGGS Regions (Africa, Arab, Asia Pacific, Europe & Western Hemisphere) and they took part in various activities with the theme of ‘Eating Your Way Around the World’.

Linda Stone (Island Commissioner) said: “All the girls really enjoyed the event. There were ready- made activities and with girls coming together across the Region it made them feel part of the bigger community of Girlguiding”.
