PROCLAMATION for THE ISLE OF WIGHT

His Majesty King Charles III was publicly proclaimed as the new sovereign at a historic ceremony at St James’ Palace in London on Saturday 10th September2022.

Following a centuries’ old tradition, there were also local Proclamations to announce the accession to the throne of our new monarch.

Residents were invited to join the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight, Kay Marriott JP, and His Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Brigadier Maurice Sheen CBE QVRM TD DL, in St Thomas’ Square, Newport, for the reading of the IW Proclamation This Proclamation proclaimed Charles III as King.

The reading by the IW High Shariff took place outside Newport Minster at 1pm. on Sunday 11th September 2022.
