PACK HOLIDAY FOR RYDE BROWNIES

Brownies PH - CopyBrownies from 1st Ryde and 8th Ryde units have had a very exciting time during the half-term holiday with a week’s stay away from their homes and away from their families.

Together with their Guiders, Sharon Winter (Snowy Owl)and Caroline Seaward (Tawny Owl)all the Brownies stayed in Cowes at the 2nd Cowes (St. Mary’s Sea Scouts) Hall. All the Brownies were divided into three special groups, Winnie the Pooh, Wombles and Wind in the Willows.

Books were the theme of the stay with activities based on numbers of well known titles including Mary Poppins, The Waterbabies, Thomas the Tank Engine and Alice in Wonderland. These activities resulted in all kinds of games, picnics, swimming at Medina Leisure Centre and a trip to the mainland for a visit to Bird World, Farnham.

Sharon said “It’s lovely seeing all the girls enjoying themselves, having fun together as well as learning new skills. Even the bed- times went well with the Guiders being able to get some sleep!”
The brownies completed work and study towards 8 badges and as well as the Brownies gaining their qualifications Sharon undertook her catering qualification (QM). Her menus for 20+ included a full roast dinner as well as other meals and picnics.
