Participants in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, leaders from Newport Open Award Centre and West Wight Open Award Centre and some parents undertook the challenge of painting a large mural to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the Award recently.

West Wight Sports and Community Centre will house the mural which was designed by young participants. Local artist Tony Trowbridge was commissioned to adapt the winning design submitted by the young participants for the mural which is on an interior wall of West Wight Sports and Community Centre.

16 participants, leaders and parents added to Tony’s painting, expressing their own images of what the Island and DofE mean to them.
