Several younger members of Girlguiding IW have recently been helping The Little Princess Trust by donating their long hair.
One of these is Guide Molly and here is the background to the hair donation.
The Little Princess Trust charity was set up in tribute to a young girl Hannah Tarplee who sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2005
Hannah’s parents knew how much Hannah loved her hair and loosing it was very traumatic experience.
Wendy and Simon searched long and hard for a suitable wig for Hannah during her treatment and when they found one it had a very positive impact.
In 2006 Wendy and Simon set up the Princess Trust in memory of their daughter. Through donations of real hair children and young adults up to the age of 24 who have suffered hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other conditions can be given a real hair wig free of charge.
Molly has been wanting to do this for a very long time but her hair was never long enough so through determination she has grown her hair enough to now be able to donate to her chosen charity. Molly said that she wants to be able to allow another person to feel special despite the tough time they are going through,
Following donations Molly has raised £180 so far for the charity and her hair has been sent off for wig making.
