Members of Girlguiding IW had a stand and activities at this year’s IW Day.
Held at Brading Roman Villa in mid September the day was themed on, of course, The Romans. There were competitions for children in Roman dress and visits from ‘Romans’ showing how life was in Roman times when Brading was a sea port and the villa was being built.
Girlguiding IW members were keen to engage with visitors and as well as handing out leaflets on what Girlguiding has to offer if you are a young member or a volunteer, activities could be undertaken such as finger painting and finger printing.
However, the most popular activity proved to be investigating a crime scene. There were clues in the tent and those taking part had to solve the mystery of who had stolen the Guides’ chocolate when they left their tent unattended. This activity was devised by Donna- one of the assistant Island Commissioners.
