Barclaycard presents the Isle of Wight Festival today announces The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys and Green Day ( pictured & UK Festival Exclusive) as 2024 headliners.
Headlining Friday night’s Main Stage is English electronic group The Prodigy. Entertaining crowds with their iconic electronic anthems from over three decades.
On Saturday, Pet Shop Boys will headline the Main Stage with “DREAMWORLD The Greatest Hits Live”. This legendary duo will perform tracks from their extensive and acclaimed catalogue that have earned them 22 UK Top 10 singles and an Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the 2009 BRIT Awards.
In a UK Festival Exclusive, American rock heroes Green Day will close the Festival’s Main Stage on Sunday night. The five-time Grammy Award winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, whose vastly praised catalogue has seen the band sell over 75 million records globally, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic album Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot.
Green Day were formed in California in 1987 with two original members- Lead singer/Guitarist- Billie Joe Armstrong and Bass/Backing vocals- Mike Dirnt. They were soon joined by Drummer Tre Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright the 3rd.) Their 14th studio album Saviors is due to be released on 19th January 2024. A single- The American Dream is Killing Me- has already been released and a second single -Look Ma No Brains- is due for release today (2nd November).
Other acts announced today to perform at the 2024 IW Festival include: THE STREETS, KEANE, SIMPLE MINDS, BLOSSOMS, MCFLY, CROWDED HOUSE, BEVERLEY KNIGHT, THE DARKNESS, SUEDE, SCOUTING FOR GIRLS, THE BOOTLEG BEATLES, RICK PARFITT JNR & THE RPJ BAND and TOYAH & ROBERT FRIPP.
Scouting For Girls went down a storm at the 2023 IW Festival. Frontman Roy Stride enjoyed an Isle of Wight made Minghella Ice cream back -stage after the band’s performance.
