1st Gurnard Guides had a minimal cook ‘Cook-Off’ competition in the week prior to breaking up for Christmas, their 2nd such event. All Guides were invited to team up with an adult (parent/known adult) to cook and present a dish of their choice that could be prepared and presented within 90 minutes.
Each team had a single gas ring cooker on their tables and access to the single microwave cooker in the hut’s kitchen. They all provided their own utensils and serving dishes. Nine teams competed and Marion O’Nions was the judge.
Whilst the judging took place, tea and drinks were provided and a raffle was organised for Guide funds.
Erin Attfield and her dad were the winners with their festive spiced pineapple deconstructed pancake dish and they received a winners certificate and prize. Runner up certificate and prize went to Thea Howarth and her Mum who prepared a delicious warming soup with garlic bread.
All the other teams were awarded Highly Commended certificates with small prizes for participation.
After the judging and presentations everyone was invited to sample the food, forming a perfect end to the evening.
