With Girlguiding’s national campaign for recruitment well underway Girlguiding Isle of Wight was certainly ‘up there; with two awareness days for the public.
Katie and Emma, at the invitation of Asda’s Community Champion, were pleased to visit the Newport store on Saturday 7th January. With a display of .everything Girlguiding Asda’s main entrance was a popular spot for shoppers to see just what Girlguiding can offer the volunteer or young member.
Following an invitation from IW Community Action’s Volunteer Centre Girlguiding IW was among 50 + local charities and organisations at the latest version of The Volunteers Fair. Held at The Riverside Centre on the 14th January this popular fair was very busy with those seeking a new volunteering role with a charity. Despite heavy rain and a blustery wind the venue was busy from the start at 11am.
Girlguiding’s five volunteer members took in turns to answer questions from the public and Kerry was interviewed by a broadcaster from Vectis radio.
