Some members of Girlguiding IW have had busy weekends recently. Girlguiding IW had a stand at the very popular Riverfest which was held along the Quay at Newport.
Thousands of people attended on one of the first warm sunny days of 2024. Lots of Girlguiding information was handed out with the special interest being in joining Brownies and Rainbows. Pick a Lucky Lolly proved popular and, especially children, were pleased to find the lucky lolly.
That same weekend, day two, and members were undertaking Walk the Wight in aid of Mountbatten which runs the Island’s only hospice and undertakes other community services.
Some members undertook the short walk whilst others handed out the medals for those who had completed either the half-walk Bembridge to Carisbrooke or Carisbrooke to Alum Bay or the full walk of Bembridge to Alum Bay.
A record amount of money was raised for Mountbatten.
The following weekend and members attended a community event at Parkhurst with our stand and information.
