All units have been busy with activities from Easter the the end of May, plus there has been much planning for HM the Queen’s Jubilee.
Carisbrooke Guides have enjoyed a number of special events and have helped the community by handing out the medals for Walk the Wight as well as some of the girls taking part in the short walk.
This unit have also had a sleepover and ended the half-term with a very successful camp where as well as the camping, trips to the local park and the beach were enjoyed.
East Cowes Brownies have been busy with Badge Work. These included 1st Aid, Art and Baking with one Brownie designing and making a cake for all seasons.
Carisbrooke Brownies have had lots of fun and different experiences. Some have been growing plants, a number had pebble pets, taking these new ‘pets’ on trips and to school, and everyone had a walk around the village on a lovely sunny evening stopping off for games on the way round. They have also been looking forward to Jubilee celebrations by designing cards with portraits of HM The Queen. Some girls have undertaken their Aviation badge.
Some leaders have been busy too out and about making the public aware of Girlguiding and getting new members to join. Teams of leaders have visited Gardens Galore at Rookley, Wolverton Jazz Festival and Riverfest at Newport Quay.
Also some leaders and their families spent a pleasant afternoon in Cowes on a guided walk of the town. Much was learned of the history of this famous sailing venue and afternoon tea was taken at one of the town’s Yacht Clubs.
11th Newport Rainbows had an extra busy half-term with Maypole dancing, a trip to Marwell Zoo and making Jubilee Beacons from Chocolate fingers- which disappeared in minutes!
Ryde Brownies have completed badges for Earth Day and planned an end of half-term party which was Jubilee themed with games from across 70 years.
10th Newport Brownies spent much of the half-term making wavers for the Jubilee Parade -complete with Jubilee Bells.
