CIRCUS SKILLS

Guides belonging to the Compton Bay Section of Girlguiding Isle of Wight enjoyed a Badge Day recently.

Held at Northwood Scout Hut the girls from the Compton Bay Section , which covers the Newport, Cowes and West Wight areas of the Island, undertook various challenges to improve their skills and knowledge and gain three  very different badges.

Challenges included building a hovercraft and unravelling the mystery of a moving chain for the Science Badge, Learning Circus Skills for a badge of that name and undertaking some handy craft work and sewing for a Sewing Challenge.

Organised by Linda Stone, Section Commissioner for Compton Bay the event proved very successful with all the Guides gaining badges.

Linda said, “It is great to get all the Guides from the Section together. It gives them the chance to make new friends as well as gaining new skills and knowledge. I never knew we had so many promising jugglers and some of the science challenges were exciting to watch.”
