NEW COMMISSIONERS FOR GIRLGUIDING IW.

Following five years in post Girlguiding’s Island Commissioner Linda Stone and her two assistants, Anne Watson and Donna Sanders-Steel have stepped down in accordance with Girlguiding policy.

Having served during the Covid crisis, when a number of units kept meetings going for the girls via Zoom, the five year term was brought to an end in much happier times with the girls now able to return to their much loved outdoor activities as well as regular learning and fun meetings.

At an evening presentation of gifts, the three were thanked by the new Island Commissioner for supporting the girls and volunteers through tough times and all three will continue in Girlguiding as unit leaders, in Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.

New Island Commissioner Wendy Macklin, a long time unit leader in Seaview and, more recently in East Cowes welcomed everyone to the event as well as making the presentations. Wendy, who has held various posts within Girlguiding IW took over the position recently and will have Emma Bryson, a Guide Leader in Newport and Trainer as her assistant plus a team of Commissioners to support the Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger Sections.
