EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY.

Back in the Autumn of 2013 a request was made for entries for the IW Photographer of the Year competition.
Competitions have run for this title since 2006 and the 2013 edition with a theme of ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’ resulted in hundreds of entries.
Thirty entries were short listed by the judges to go on display at Dimbola Museum and Galleries, Freshwater for an exhibition running from mid January until 30th March 2014.
Winner of the competition was Victor Saltmeris with a photograph entitled ‘Young and In Love’. Keith Towers with his entry entitled ‘A Quiet Space’ was second and Ian Johnston was placed third with ‘Cleaning Up, After A Long Day’. These three photos now have pride of place in the gallery but the remaining 27 short listed entries are also on view.
Of the 27, other notable entries include a portrait by Holly Cade (winner of the recent Open Exhibition at Quay Arts) whilst entries relating to the Island depict a Cowes Lifeboat crew member ‘Richard’, by Nick Edwards, a yachting scene ‘The Reach’ by Chris Crawford and on the dock side at Cowes. For nature lovers there is a study of a robin ‘Berries for Breakfast’ by Barbara Close.
Mediums include black and white photography as well as colour shots.
Dimbola Museum and Galleries will mount a solo exhibition by the winner which will take place later this year. It is planned for 1st November2014 until 4th January 2015.
