CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT OSBORNE HOUSE.

Thanks to EH for photo of Enchanted Osborne.

Next  weekend 2/3 December will see the best of Christmas in Victorian times at Osborne House.

Visit the Victorian fairground and take a ride on the swing-boats and carousel. See the amazing Addrian and his travelling flea circus or stop by Captain Griffin’s fairground stalls for a chance to enjoy traditional games. Young visitors will be captivated by the Victorian toy-makers, and can even make their very own toy to take home.

Don’t miss Peter Cooper and his hilarious show, Schooling in Fooling and the Celebrated Human Torch. Be thrilled by the Victorian falconer as he reveals a more traditional way of catching festive fare and listen to seasonal stories of winter birds. Nearby, jolly entertainers will excite and amaze with juggling shows and penny farthings.

The Christmas courtyard will be bustling with stallholders and carol singers. Grab a song sheet and sing along whilst you warm up with a glass of mulled wine. You can seek out Father Christmas in his magical grotto, or even meet Queen Victoria as she tours Osborne to greet her royal subjects.

Visit  Osborne this Victorian Christmas, and experience the season of good cheer with fun and festivities for all the family.

Later in December (15th-23rd) see Osborne House in a whole new light at Enchanted Christmas.

Join with friends and family to explore the grounds of Osborne after dark as the grounds open up a winter fairy-tale of light, colour and sound. Strings of enchanted lamplight laced through the boughs of trees and fairy lights twinkling behind leaves will lead you along a garden trail into a wonderland of exploration and imagination.

An enchanting route around Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s family home will be divided into nine sections, each representing one of their children. Your imagination will run wild as you follow in their footsteps on a journey inspired by fairytales.

This experience doesn’t end when the trail does. Emerging into the scene of a traditional fairground, you’ll find a myriad of entertainment to carry you back to times gone by. There will be plenty to enjoy besides – from mince pies, mulled wine and toasting marshmallows to Christmas shopping and heritage inspired gifts.

So get wrapped up warm, with camera at hand and tastebuds ready to be indulged and make the most of this sparkling event.

Osborne in the evening-a new experience for most.
