We’re on the brink of summer with long, warm days and what could be better than hopping on your bike instead of getting in the car or on the bus? There is the added benefit of raising money for charity while you ride if you use the Bicycle Island app so please consider giving it a go. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
You may remember that back in March we were raising money for 1st Newport Scouts, and we hit the 2,000km target. Well, this time it’s the turn of the girls. The beneficiary charity is Girlguiding Isle of Wight. Let’s do what we can to reach the magic 2,000km for them too!
The Girlguiding Isle of Wight Challenge
Girlguiding Isle of Wight
Girlguiding IW is part of the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure they empower girls to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and to make a positive difference in their community.
Money raised from this challenge will be used to finance the ‘new programme books’ for members. The new programme is due to be launched on 21st July and will cover six sections: Know Myself, Express Myself, Be Well, Have Adventures. Take Action and Skills for my Future. As part of this they are also hoping to organise an Adventure Camp for all the IW girls.
Thanks again to Red Funnel for sponsoring this challenge.
As Bicycle Island is supporting Girlguiding IW members are encouraged to take up this cycling challenge as well and please encourage all relatives, friends and neighbours to join in too.
